Empty stomachs hurt. They break concentration and make the future seem impossible.
SHOR provides nutritious snacks as an essential starting point on the journey towards shelter.
Providing a path to self-sufficiency for people facing homelessness requires many hands. We've got many successes under our belt, but we need more help, and that's where you come in.
While you can volunteer with us directly, working in our center to provide individuals with essential services, there's much you can do on your own. Contact us to learn more about opportunities and ideas for donating, fundraising, hosting events, campaigning, buying gifts, and involving your school or company.

We exist

to end needless suffering

Learn how SHOR is helping to improve life for those in need on the Paradise Ridge.

Most of us are fortunate enough to just turn on a faucet to access life’s most essential ingredient: clean water. But for many people, access to something so basic is difficult.

SHOR provides showers and laundry facilities for people experiencing homelessness.

Access to multiple community resources is essential to eliminating homelessness.
SHOR works with all local social services and members of the faith community to offer people the tools they need to rebuild their life.
Over a hundred people are experiencing homelessness on the Paradise Ridge.
Half are sleeping in a place not meant for human habitation, such as parks, creek beds, and cars. They are neighbors, as most have lived in Butte County for years,  and were living in Butte County when they became homeless.
Sojourner's House on the Ridge is devoted to creating a stronger community by opening doors to self-sufficiency, dignity, and hope for our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness, or are at risk of losing their shelter.
